Hi Dilly:
Patches never worked for me, whether it's for smoking or anything else. Miss seeing your stationeries though, particularly the musical ones. My kids sisters in Boston used to love when I'd send them those from the groups.
Betas are fun and frustrating at the same time. It's always nice to have an insider peek at what's coming down the pike. Newsgroups just get in your system after awhile and I feel withdrawn when I'm away from them for too long.
Drop a line now and then. (email is valid on this post) Saw your pics about vacationing in Cabo. One of my favorite places to unwind, but it gets to looking more and more like San Diego each time I go. Too many golf courses and "timeshare" condos, but that's progress I guess.
Best regards.

===========================================

Well, it's not really cheating, since the same process has been around for quite some time. The problem is that downloading the lists of newsgroups is extremely memory intensive and with more than 25,000 or so groups, the list may never complete. All is not lost though, if you know the name of the newsgroup you want to go to. It really is this simple:
Create a hyperlink to the newsgroup consisting of the following parts: news:// followed by: name of news server/ followed by: name of newsgroup
i.e., the following would take you to this newsgroup from the Start/Run line with OE or WinMail shut down: news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail
